【Discussion】the paper i did in my english class

today i just browsed my email box, and got my score in doctor english course given by dear teacher jay...... and then just saw the letter i sent to my first english teacher-Chris-the opinions on some US news . Just "infant" writing. English should be more freestyle. There are always someone with no qualities do the important work, but reasons for that is not the same here and abroad. thanks for reading.......  What surprises me most is the statement that,"You went over US history,and some European,,in school. No much Russian,Chinese, or Lattin American." It seems that the world history is not emphasized adequately in American schools. I also find that ,"You'd be hard pressed to name the capitals or the leaders of all the nations of Europe." I think it means that American People don't know other countries' history very well. I often hold that to get to know other countries' present situation, such as culture, policy, society, etc, you must investigate their history carefully ostensibly. So I don't think American people grasp the actuality of today's world, but it's well-known that American government--the country always refers itself as the keeper of the world's order, the world police. I am just shocked, and even scared--unless every American officer picks up their history books again before they give their inaugural speeches,or I just doubt the correctness of their decisions. Maybe it's also the reason why there are many critics against American government's overseas policy. All these are just my thought, but just as the famous line in spiderman--"With great power, comes great responsibility."--With the strongest power, America do have an important role to play in the world, but I think he must prepare himself on how to use his power--maybe begin with the history. |
