Electronic state is a quantum state of a system consisting of electrons (usually orbitals or chemical bonds in crystals or molecules). The state with lowest energy is called ground state, states with higher energy are excited states. However, electron configuration is the arrangement of electrons of an atom, a molecule, or other physical structure, it concerns the way electrons can be distributed in the orbitals of the given system (atomic or molecular for instance).[Eg. the electron configurations of P atom is as follows:1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3] [ Last edited by sculhf on 2011-2-28 at 17:05 ] |
