[交流] 【Share】Would you see a robotic doctor?

this was written by Joshua Batt, Medical Student
When I shared with my grandparents that we now have robots doing surgery, they were more than astonished. In fact they laughed in denial of my claim. There are numerous surgical robots, one of which is the da Vinci Surgical System. Not only is it a great way for hospitals to market their technological advancements, but the robots are said to have better patient outcomes and satisfaction. What patient would want anything less?

While so many fear the changes in society that will come about by said futuristic devices, is there reason to think they will replace health care providers? They may take positions on assembly lines, yet seeing a patient's "clinical picture" will most likely remain a job for human eyes. Reports of completely autonomous "robosurgeons" exist, but how many patients would be willing to undergo procedures un-attended by trained medical specialists? Perhaps the likelihood of error may be less and the caliber of precision greater with robots at the bedside. However, when things don't work out the way they are intended, that is when I would want a seasoned professional nearby.

The era of technology is now, and bright minds continue to push the boundaries in exploration for the next best thing. While it is great to know we are making bionic advances in medicine, I remain hesitant as to how far we let computer-chipped and degree-less entities play doctor.

Robto cann\'t substitute humans. I prefer white-coat angels than robots.
