[交流] 【Pure water】Chinese and foreign grassroots stars step into spotlight

That's the case for a growing number of grassroots entertainers who have stepped into the spotlight. Although an overnight success provides quick fame, experts say not all the rising stars will have a promising future.

Grassroots band Xu Ri Yang Gang are China's newest web sensation.

Meaning rising sun in Chinese, the band came to prominence after uploading a video of them singing "In the Spring".

The catchy song catapulted them from nobodies to Internet stars boasting around 3 million fans.

After the initial success they are now frequently invited to big media events in China, like the CCTV Spring Festival Gala.

However, just as many thought they were about to rock the entertainment industry, the original singer from their famous song "In the Spring" stepped in to prevent the band from performing after he cited they had infringed on his intellectual property rights.

Different from Xu Ri Yang Gang, China's rising star Liu Wei is considered to have more professional skills, enabling him to enjoy a long-lasting popularity.

The armless pianist who plays the song "Hope" with his toes has won the champion of the television talent show China's Got Talent.

Now, he is signed with Freemantle Media and Sony Music, and is kept busy everyday.

He believes his determination to succeed makes him a hit.

Pianist Liu Wei said, "I feel that I'm not different from other people. Although I lost my arms, I can still pursue my dreams. I suppose this is what other people appreciate about me."

Another fairy tale story is the case of rising star Susan Boyle.

She came to international public attention after appearing as a contestant on Britain's Got Talent in 2009, singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables.

Her first album became the biggest selling album in the world in 2009, selling 9 million copies.

Singer Susan Boyle said, "They asked me if I want to do this kind of work, I say it's my dream and I'm happy it comes true at last."

If Susan's story is not enough to prove the potential talent of a grassroots star, here is another case, an English pop opera tenor, Paul Robert Potts.

He won the first series of Britain's Got Talent in 2007.

As an opera singer, Potts recorded the album "One Chance", which went to the number one spot in 9 counties.

As for Chinese grassroots stars, experts say besides big dreams, they need more original compositions to achieve big results.

你就是你

no pains ,no gains
我要的不多,一杯清水,一片面包,一句我爱你。如果奢侈一点,我希望:水是你亲手倒的,面包是你亲手切的,我爱你是你亲口对我说的。
