【Original】The journey to huangshan in snow, eight
Huangshan was called black mountain(黟山) because of the dark color of its cliffs. Tang xuanzong changed its name to huangshan because the legendary huang emperor was thought to have made his pills oh immortality here.
Huangshan was famous for the gnarled pines, craggy rocks, sea of clouds and the sunrise, the huangshan covered snow was thought to be especially beautiful. Luckily, the day I went to huangshan was a snowy day!
I started at ciguang pavilion(慈光阁) by foot, it took me about three hours to get the jade screen pavilion(玉屏峰) where the guest-greeting pine was there. The road to celestial capital peak(天都峰) was closed in winter, it’s the steepest peak, but a stone stairway is cut into the near vertical cliff face. I wish I can climb there in summer.
After lunch, I walked through lotus peak(莲花峰), brightness apex(光明顶), flying rock(飞来石), and finally arrived paiyun hotel where I had dinner and sleep there. It took me about five hours to get there because the beautiful sceneries along the road, and I couldn’t help to shoot the photos all the times.
Over a night snowing, the road was covered with thick snow, the trees were wearing new white dresses. I got up early, hoping to see the sunrise. Due to the mist and snow, I saw nothing, but there were other wonderful views, the experience was unforgettable. The mountains in mist and dim light looked like a paint of Chinese painting.
In the beihai scenic area(北海景区), there is begin-to –believe peak(始信峰), it’s probably the most visited peak in huangshan due to its deep chasms and classic huangshan scenery. There were lianli pine(连理松), black tiger pine(黑虎松), solidarity pine(团结松) and so on.
I came down by the cable car and finished my wonderful travel to huangshan.![]()
