“It is often necessary, even desirable , for political leaders withhold information from the public .” 对于政治领导人来说,向人民大众隐瞒信息通常是必要的,甚至是有益的。 POSITION: agree OUTLINE: 1. position 2 It is essential for political leaders to withhold certain kind of information from the public in order to keep the stability of the entire society 3. It is improper that the political leaders to have undue freedom to withhold the information from the public, since that it violates the principle of democracy 4. In sum (第一篇作文,没限时,欢迎提意见,越尖锐越好!) I agree with the speaker’s assertion that it is necessary or even desirable for political leaders to withhold some information from the public .It is known to all that the politic is so complicated in the world that it is naive to disclose the information about anything to the public. However, we can not imagine how the world could be if our political leaders have undue freedom to withhold information, we could not allow this situation take place for the interest of the populace. On one hand ,as a political leader in our society, it is essential for him or her to withhold certain kind of information from the public in order to keep the stability of the entire society .For example ,if a leader discloses the detail concerning a plan to capture a desperado who has committed many murders, there is no doubt that the plan will end up with failure and might even arouse public panic. So, on the contrary, it’s the leader’s responsibility to keep the plan in a secrete state to the public. Consider also a more cogent example that took place in the Pentagon at the turn of millennium, as we all known later from the report that the missile defense system experienced a Y2K-related malfunction. How could it be if the political leaders disclose the information immediately? Maybe the terrorists in the world would took some aggressive actions toward the populace of America. On the other hand , It is improper that the political leaders to have undue freedom to withhold the information from the public, since that it violates the principle of democracy .First , political leaders who need citizen’s support on some matters should let them know the detail concerning the motive and agenda of these matters. Secondly, the political leaders selected by citizen are to be the society’s manger who own the right to distribute resources of the entire society. If they have undue freedom to withhold the information from public ,they would do something illegal in the favor of their interest or even someone with the most money and influence .In that case, there is no security for the interest of most populace in our society. In the final analysis, I agree that political leaders can or maybe must withhold certain kind of information from the public. However, the situation that political leaders who have undue freedom to withhold information absolutely violates the democratic principle |
