【Original】the journey to hongcun and xidi， seven

on the first day of 2011,i went to hongcun（宏村） and xidi （西递）in yixian(黟县) anhui province. hongcun is where the movie "crouching tiger,hidden dragon" was partly shot. there were water channels flowing through nearly every house within the village, the housewives wash their clothes in front of their doors. in the center of the village is a beautiful pond surrounded by houses and the Wang Clan Hall(汪氏祠堂). the life there is tranquil and leisure. near the hongcun is xidi ,it is notable for the many archways which are made of local marbles and are carved in typical Anhui style. in order to protect the families and belongings from the bandits, they built their dwellings with very high walls and without windows. strolling through the narrow alleyways of thevillage, u may feel insular atmosphere permeated through the village.
