¡¡My l4-year-old son, John, and I spotted the coat simultaneously. It was hanging on a rack at a secondhand clothing store in Northampton Mass, crammed in with shoddy trench coats and an assortment of sad, woolen overcoats -- a rose among thorns. ¡¡¡¡ÔÚÂíÈøÖîÈûÖݱ±°²ÆÕ¶ÙÊеÄÒ»¼Ò³öÊÛ¶þÊÖ·þ×°µÄµêÀÎÒºÍÎÒ14ËêµÄ¶ù×ÓÔ¼º²Í¬Ê±¶¢ÉÏÁËÄǼþ´óÒ¡£Ëü¾Í¹ÒÔÚÒ¼ÜÉÏ£¬¼ÐÔÚÁÓÖʵľüÓ÷çÓêÒº͸÷ʽ¸÷Ñùº®ËáµÄÑòë´óÒµ±ÖУ¬È»¶øËüÈ´Ïñ¾£¼¬´ÔÖеÄÒ»¶äõ¹å¡£ ¡¡¡¡While the other coats drooped, this one looked as if it were holding itself up. The thick, black wool of the double-breasted chesterfield was soft and unworn, as though it had been preserved in mothballs for years in dead old Uncle Henry's steamer trunk. The coat had a black velvet collar, beautiful tailoring, a Fifth Avenue label and an unbelievable price of $28. We looked at each other, saying nothing, but John's eyes gleamed. Dark, woolen topcoats were popular just then with teenage boys, but could cost several hundred dollars new. This coat was even better, bearing that touch of classic elegance from a bygone era. ¡¡¡¡ÆäËûµÄ´óÒ¶¼ÏÔµÃû¾«´ò²É£¬Î©¶ÀÕâ¼þÒ·þÖº¸ßÆøÑï¡£ºñºñµÄºÚÉ«ÑòÈÞÈáÈí¶øÅîËÉ£¬Õâ¼þË«Åſ۰µÅ¥³¤´óÒÂÏÔÈ»»¹Ã»ÉϹýÉí£¬¿´Ñù×Ó£¬¾ÍÏñÓÃÕÁÄÔÇòÔÚÀϺàÀûÊåÊåµÄ±âƽÂÃÐÐÏäÀï±£´æÁ˶àÄê¡£Æä×ö¹¤¾«Ï¸£ºÁì×ÓÊǺÚÌì¶ìÈ޵ģ¬É̱êÊǵÚÎå´ó½ÖµÄ£¬¼ÛÇ®ÈÃÈËÄÑÒÔÖÃÐÅ£¬Ö»Âô28ÃÀÔª¡£ÎÒÃDZ˴˿´×ŶԷ½£¬Ò»ÑÔ²»·¢£¬¿ÉÔ¼º²µÄÑÛÀïÈ´ÉÁ×ÅÐÀϲµÄ¹â¡£ºÚÉ«µÄÑòÈÞÇá±ã´óÒÂÄÇʱÔÚС»ï×ÓÃÇÖкÜÁ÷ÐУ¬ÂòÒ»¼þеÄÒª»¨ºÃ¼¸°ÙÃÀÔª£¬¶øÕâÒ»¼þÖʵظüºÃһЩ£¬»¹´øÓÐÒ»ÖÖÊÅÈ¥Äê´úµÄ¹ÅµäÃÀ¡£ ¡¡¡¡John slid his arms down into the heavy satin lining of the sleeves and buttoned the coat. "It must be his coat!" Another teacher told him she was giving him a good mark not only because he had earned it but because she liked his coat. At the library, we ran into a friend who had not seen our children in a long time, ¡°Could this be John?" he asked, looking up to John's new height, assessing the cut of his coat and extending his hand, one gentleman to another. ¡¡¡¡µ±ÎÒ¶ÔËûµÄÒ»¸öÀÏʦÌáÆðÕâ¼þÊ£¬²¢ËµÎÒ²»ÖªµÀÕâÊÇΪʲôʱ£¬ËýЦ×Å˵£º¡°Ò»¶¨ÊÇÒòΪËûµÄ´óÒ£¡¡±ÁíÒ»¸öÀÏʦ¸æËßËû£¬ËýÒª¸øËûÒ»¸öºÃ³É¼¨£¬²»½ö½öÒòΪËûÀíÓ¦»ñµÃ£¬»¹ÒòΪËýϲ»¶ËûµÄ´óÒ¡£ÔÚͼÊé¹ÝÀïÎÒÃÇÓö¼ûÁËһλÅóÓÑ£¬ËûÒѾºÜ³¤Ê±¼äûÓп´¼ûÎÒÃǵĺ¢×ÓÁË¡£¿´×ÅÔ¼º²³¤¸ßµÄ¸ö×Ó£¬Æ·ÆÀ×ÅËû´óÒµÄÑùʽ£¬ÕâλÅóÓѲ»½ûÎʵÀ£º¡°ÕâÊÇÔ¼º²Â𣿡± ͬʱÏòÔ¼º²Éì³öÁËÊÖ£¬ÍêÈ«ÊÇÉðÊ¿¼äµÄÐÐΪ¡£ ¡¡¡¡John and I both know we should never mistake a person's clothes for the real person within them. The whole world, the whole future is stretched out ahead, a vast panorama where all the doors are open. And if I were there right now, I would picture myself walking through those doors wearing my wonderful, magical coat. ¡¡¡¡ÓÐʱ¿´×ÅÔ¼º²ÉÏѧȥ£¬ÎҾͲ»½ûâñÈ»Ð͝£¬ÏëÆð×Ô¼ºÉÏ8Ä꼶ʱµÄ¸Ð¾õ¡ª¡ªÄÇʱ³¢ÊÔ²»Í¬µÄÉú»î·½Ê½¾ÍÈçͬÊÔÒ·þÒ»Ñù¼òµ¥¡£Õû¸öÊÀ½ç¡¢Õû¸öδÀ´ÔÚÄãÃæÇ°Õ¹¿ª£¬ÓÌÈçÒ»·ù¾Þ´óµÄ»¾í£¬ÄÇÀïµÄÿһÉÈÃŶ¼³¨¿ª×Å¡£Èç¹û´Ë¿ÌÎÒÄܻص½ÄǶù£¬ÎÒ»áÔÚÕâЩÃż䴩ÐУ¬ÉíÉϾʹ©×ÅÄǼþÆæÃîµÄ¡¢´øÓÐħÁ¦µÄ´óÒ¡£ |
