Lushan Mountain, Jiangxi Province
Located in the Poyang Lake Basin, in the north of Jiangxi Province, Lushan Mountain is one of the most famous mountains in China.
Its scenic area covers an area of 382 square kilometers. The main peak, the Dahanyang Peak measures 1,474 meters tall. Among the peaks, there are 26 mountain uplifts, 20 valleys, 16 caves, 22 places of grotesque rocks, 22 waterfalls, 18 streams and 14 lakes or pools. The famous Three-Step Waterfall (Sandiequan Pubu) has a high drop of 155 meters. Its unique landscape has very high scientific value and is well-worthy of appreciation.
Since ancient times, Lushan Mountain has been frequented by many poets and scholars. The over 4,000 poems, ditties, odes and songs all speak volumes in favor of it.

Huangshan Mountain (Yellow Mountain), Anhui Province
Located in Huangshan city, south of East China's Anhui Province, Huangshan Mountain (or Yellow Mountain) is famous for its landscape and time-honored culture. It is well known in Asia, even in the world. As the famous saying goes, "a trip to Huangshan renders the trip to the five great mountains", the Yellow Mountain is indeed worth visiting.
Winter is considered the best season to visit the Huangshan Mountain. The snow scenery in Huangshan is quite unique as it perfectly combines with the views of pines, rocks, clouds and springs. When it snows, the Heavenly Capital Peak (Tiandu Feng) looks like a Goddess wrapped in sliver snow. The Lotus Peak (Lianhua Feng) is similar to a blossoming white snow flower. The snow has increased a lot of elegance and dignity to the scenic sights.

Emei Mountain, Sichuan Province
Located 150 kilometers away from Chengdu and only 28 kilometers from Leshan, Emei Mountain has been designated a World Heritage Site due to its breathtaking scenery, mysterious natural wonders and historical Buddhist sites.
Winter is the best season to appreciate the sea of the cloud and snow sight. Besides, visitors should not miss to soak in the hot springs. Located near Baoguo Temple in Emei Mountain, Lingxiu hot spring is the largest radon hot spring resort in West China. The spring can cure a variety of chronic diseases. The water measures as high as 67 C. The springs are embraced by lush mountains. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque scenery while also enjoying spas.
In addition, visitors who like skiing can be satisfied in Emei Mountain. The alpine skiing resort, located in Leidongping has colorful skiing activities such as sled pull by dogs and snow plates. Visitors will certainly have a good time there.

Taishan Mountain, Shandong Province
Taishan Mountain is renowned as Dongyue (the Sacred Mountain of East China) that ranks No. 1 among the five most important mountains in China. In 1987, Mount Tai was listed as a Cultural and Natural World Heritage site and honored "World Geopark" in 2006. It is well known for its grandness, elevation and width. The typical character of natural scenery of Mount Tai is imposing. Its scenes include: cragged cliff, deep canyon and gorge, grotesque peak and strange rocks, good vegetation and the flowing springs.
In snowy days, Taishan Mountain appears taller and straighter. The morning sunrise and the sea of clouds are two natural wonders visitors should not miss.

Huashan Mountain, Shaanxi Province
Huashan Mountain is located in Huayin county, Shaanxi Province. It is the Western Mountain of the Five Sacred Mountains. It is second highest to the Northern Mountain - Hengshan Mountain and praised as "the First Odd Mountain in the World". Its cragginess is outstanding compared with the other four sacred mountains.
Huashan Mountain welcomes the winter in late November. From December to March the following year, the whole mountain is covered with snow.
Besides, to see the sunrise is a most favored way to visit Huashan Mountain, and visitors are suggested to climb the mountain at night, as the sunrises at around 05:30 to 06:00. Don't be scared! It is popularly believed that climbing the mountain at night is easier than in the day, because you cannot see the abruptness of the mountain in the darkness. |
