An Excellent Person

[非教师] I watched a program on CCTY-7 several months ago. The title, if I remembered correctly, is "People and Society" (人与社会). It narrated a boy called Wan Daiyuan, who entered the Nankai University in Tianjin last year. However after the 32 days hard working, he dropped off his study and went back his hometown due to his mother was severely ill. He got the tuition back from the university and used to pay for his mother's hospital bills. Gradually, his parents knew the truth that he had left school and felt extreme disappointed. Wan Daiyuan knew that his mother would have not much time in this world and he really wanted to live together with her during her remain days. He wanted to earn money to support his family, he is the only child in the family and everybody has only one mom after all. However, his parents, especially his mother, could not accept his son's decision. She told her son that if he won't review his study of senior 3, she would refuse any therapy. Therefore, Wan Daiyuan began to continue his review and at last he got 573 scores, and finally was accepted by the Normal University in Beijing. His major is Chinese Literature. The whole family felt comfortable this time. I was moved by Wan Daiyuan's story. Everybody knows that most of young students more likely don’t understand, or how to deal with in the situation like Wan’s parents’. Student in early 20s of age, there are less children can understand his parents situation), instead, they often make their parents upset. Wan Daiyuan has strong love for his parents, which is extremely rare and important in the modern time. Besides, the most important thing I appreciated is his ability-------- to acquire the certifications of a famous university. This is not easy, because we know that he must shoulder great pressures of his life. Nowadays, we spend a lot of time on our own career and almost forget our parents in some extent. We should consider this situation seriously. On the other side, I wonder whether we have the genuine capability to continue our work and achieve our dreams in the future.
