上图是阻燃MPPO释热速率曲线图，从图中可以看出，未经阻燃处理的MPPO在点燃后50~280秒内剧烈放热，而RDP2、RDP3阻燃的MPPO释热速率明显降低，这样可以避免由于剧烈放热而造成温度升高过快、火势加大。同时发现，RDP2阻燃的MPPO释热速率又低于RDP3阻燃的MPPO。
与磷酸三苯酯（TPP）相比，间苯二酚双磷酸苯基酯齐聚物（RDP）具有分子量大，热稳定性强，有效阻燃成份磷含量高等特点。
