Cang Mountain
Located at the southern foot of the Yunling Mountains, the Cang Mountain is a part of the Hengduan mountain group. It connects the crystal rippling water of Erhai Lake in the East. Also known as Diancangshan, the mountain is always jade-green in the four seasons, hence the name. It is composed of 19 peaks and 18 brooks.
Cang Mountain is well known for its rich plant resources. There are over 3,000 kinds of plants on it. It also contains a great variety of waterfalls, lakes, clouds, ponds and springs. The amazing scenery makes it a hot hiking trail in Dali.

Erhai Lake
The beautiful Erhai Lake is located between the ancient city of Dali and Cangshan Mountain. Erhai Lake is situated 1,972 meters above sea level and covers an area of 250 square kilometers. It is the second largest highland lake in China, after Dianchi Lake. Its average depth measures 11 meters. The best way to tour the lake is to ride horses, bikes or camp around it. Besides, visitors are strongly suggested to drop on the nearby fishing villages of the Bai Minority, as they are quite rare to see. The famous film Five Golden Flowers from the 1950s is just about a love story that took place on the region.

Butterfly Spring
Located among lush trees at the foot of Yunnong Peak of Cang Mountain, Butterfly Spring is a well known scenic spot known to all, from afar and near. The spring rises from a square pool outlined by dense trees. Above the pool, there is an old decumbent tree, known as the "Butterfly Tree". It is so named because thousands of butterflies are attracted by its fragrant blossom during spring and summer. Visitors are also attracted by this marvelous scenery. Due to the warm climate in Dali, the Butterfly Spring does not freeze in winter. And many visitors list it among their winter travel plan to avoid the tourism's hot season.

Zhang Family's Garden
Located to the north side of the Buddhist Temple of the Dali county, Zhang Family's Garden is a typical Bai residential house. Covering an area of eight acres, it is surrounded by the Erhai Lake and a dazzling variety of flowers such as camellias and azaleas. The flowers still blossom in winter. Due to its enchanting scenery, it is regarded as "the first park in Yunnan Province" and "dreaming Bai houses".
It opened in March 2008. Visitors go there for appreciating the unique Bai residential house, the embroidered costumes of the Bai people which are decorated with patterns of camellia and azaleas as well as the colorful Bai people's costumes. |
