摘要: The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of steel surface conditions and all organic inhibitor on the chloride threshold level for corrosion of steel in a concrete contaminated by chlorides. The corrosion of steel with two different surface conditions, i.e. a mill scale and polishing treatment, has been simulated in a saturated Ca(OH)(2) solution containing different chloride concentration. N,N'-dimethylaminoethanol (DMEA) has been applied as an amino-alcohol based inhibitor. The results concluded by electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) indicate that, contrasted to the steel with a mill scale, the polishing steel has an increasing chloride threshold value. However, the addition of the inhibitor exhibits little effect on the chloride threshold level for the steel corrosion in the saturated Ca(OH)(2) solution, although it is effective to reduce the corrosion rate of the steel.
