Pr doped TiO2 photocatalyst possesses high stability with anatase as the main crystal phase, and the particle size is smaller than the undoped one, indicating that the Pr doping effectively inhibits the nanocrystal growth. Performance of photocatalytic degradation shows that the highest photoactivity is achieved when the Pr content is 2.0%(mol%. Increased numbers of H2O and hydroxyls on TiO2 surface resulting from the Pr doping facilitates the improvement of the photoactivity. As is shown in the photoluminescence spectra, the surface capture state is lower than that of the unmodified TiO2 which can inhibit the recombination of the photogenerated carriers and result in a higher photocatalytic activity. In photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B, hydroxyl adsorbed on TiO2 surface plays an important role. |
