Sunday marked the third day of the 7-day National Day holiday in China. Tourist sites around the country have received large numbers of visitors. This year, many travellers have preferred to spend time in mountainous areas near cities, and do it yourself-driving tours. In Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, locals and tourists gathered by the side of the West Lake to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Despite adding more sight-seeing boats for transportation, long lines are still common. Private cars are restricted in the tourist areas, and this makes bicycles the most favored form of transport.Many tourists rent bicycles for sightseeing. Local tourism officials say that visitor numbers to the resorts in Hangzhou, rose more than 11 percent,compared with last year. In Zhangjiajie scenic area in central China's Hunan Province, the number of tickets sold to visitors on the National Day alone rose more than 40 percent, compared with the same period last year. At the Tulou scenic area in east China's Fujian Province, visitors crowded at the gate of the reception center. A visitor said, "We came from the city of Zhangzhou, we are all teachers. Our school has organized the tour." According to statistics, the Tulou scenic spot received more than ten thousand visitors on the first day of the National Day Holiday. In QingDao, East China's Shandong Province, scenic areas including Laoshan and the Qingdao Underwater World have received more than 5 hundred thousand visitors per day. Wang Jinyue, Assistant Manager of Qingdao Underwater World, said, "Today, the number of visitors is between 15 thousand to 20 thousand. It's much more than that of last year." The Underwater World has also prepared special animal shows to attract more visitors from around the country. |
