[交流] 【Original】Preparation for Chang'e-2 launch（go on ）

In southwest China's Sichuan province, the Chang'e-2 lunar probe is expected to be launched in early October from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.

The rocket carrying the Chang'e 2 is now ready. Though it's only a few kilometers from the testing plant to the launch pad, all the vehicles have to make way, because any vibration they cause may affect the rocket's precise instruments.

The launch tower is 97 meters high. The second stage of the rocket is being lifted slowly. It should be lifted to a platform about 45 meters high, and then dock with the first stage which is already in place.

The main tasks of the Chang'e-2 are to perform tests of the key technologies that will be used for the Chang'e-3 lunar landing. It will also record images of the Chang'e-3 landing area with a high-resolution camera.

Experts say Chang'e-2 will reach lunar orbit within 120 hours. It will orbit 100 kilometers closer to the moon than its predecessor.

Chang'e-1 was launched in October 2007 as part of China' ambitious three-stage moon mission. Named after a mythical Chinese goddess who flew to the moon, Chang'e-1 was a milestone in China's space exploration.http://english.cntv.cn/program/newsupdate/20100926/103370.shtml
