【Discussion】Did you watch the movie "Hawthorn Tree Forever"

I had no chance of watching it in a cinema, but I watched the DVD last night. I have to say, the movie does not let me down. Pictures are eye-catching and fit well into the background of those years. The presentation of the entire story is in a naturally narrative and untwisted way. In particular, the performances by the young actor and actress are way beyond my imagination. Thank them, the love story between Jingqiu and Laosan becomes so touching! Have to admire Zhang’s insight in spotting actor and actress! And the treatments of details are unbelievable, consistent with Zhang’s style! All this makes me believe that Zhang is, undoubtedly, the #1 master in the Chinese movie-directing field and one of the top in the world. Limited by the length, however, the movie doesn’t have enough room to present all the nice stories in the novel that this movie is adapted from. All in all, the movie is worth watching. |
