[交流] 【Share】Retelling a story

Map out the plot structure of a story you are familiar with. The story could be from a book or form TV or the movies. In your plot sturcture may include characters and what they want, conflict (what keeps the character from getting what they want), complication, climax (how the conflicts are resolved) and resolution.

Keep in mind a good retelling should include the following items:
1. state the title and author; 2.identify the main character; 3.describe the setting; 4.relate the main events; 5.use time-order words like first, nex and finally; 6. keep events in the right order; 7. explain how the story ends.

Next, you can practise to retell a stroy. It is a good method for practising to think in English.

If you find subplots in your story, you may make many charts which includes all items I mentioned.

In different stage of reading, you migh think about these things as follows, and then you can retell a story after reading.

Think about what you have learned so far. what is the title? Who is the author? Where does this story take place? Can you figure out waht is going to cause a problem in this story?


Who are the characters you have met so far? What problem do they face?

What has happened so far in the story? Use words linke first, second, third to keep the envents in order.

Because it need you understand the story and get its outline.
