Francisco Degni, s/n Bairro Quitandinha CEP 14800-900 Job description: The thematic project "Assessment of the Occurrence, toxicity / genotoxicity and Processes for Degradation of Dyes in Wastewater and Surface Water", supported by FAPESP, has a vacancy for post-doctoral research at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP).

The project aims to obtain diagnoses about levels of contamination of industrial effluents and surface waters receiving wastewater of azo dyes, as well as to evaluate the potential toxic and mutagenic effect involving some dyes and their derivatives in order to obtain subsidies to understand their transport processes, bioaccumulation, persistence and biotransformation on the environment or human metabolism.
In this context, we are giving priority for candidates with experience in analysis by mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography applied in analytical chemistry, with the aim to support the work to be developed by the group involving the following topics:
i) optimization of analytical methodologies based on liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for preconcentration, detection and quantification of dyes and by-products in wastewater and surface water, sludge and sediments contaminated by waste from the textile industry, tanneries, food and hair dye;
ii) to work on correlation of the chemical structure of dyes and derivatives with mutagenic properties tested by induction of damage to genetic material and immune system changes in primary colorants and waters originating from tanneries, dyeing, hair salons, and food;
iii) to work on identification of intermediates and by-products formed in degradation processes of many classes of azo dyes by advanced oxidation methods such as photo-fenton, iron and zero photoelectrocatalysis under irradiation artificial and solar;
iv) the results could to contribute to the environmental agencies in drafting legislation more consistent for the disposal of dyes.
The group of researchers involved in this project conglomerate multidisciplinary knowledge in frontier areas of analytical chemistry and biological sciences.
Interested researchers should submit updated curriculum Lattes, a letter of introduction and a brief account of her experience and her interested in the subject, as well as two letters of introduction / recommendation. The language can be Portuguese or English.

The value of the Post-Doctoral Scholarship from FAPESP is R$ 5,028.90 per month and the candidate must to live in Araraquara, Brazil.
