【Share】Poverty-stricken county spends $7m on imitation Sydney Opera House
|
 The imitation of the Sydney Opera House located in the Swan Park in Jiangsu Province's county of Funing.  A replica of the China Pavilion of the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai has also been built in the poor county of Funing, Jiangsu Province. A poor county in East China's Jiangsu Province spent 50 million yuan ($7.4 million) to build an imitation of the Sydney Opera House, igniting a controversy over the use of public money, the Guanghzou Daily reported Monday. The white structure, located in the Swan Park in Funing County, is divided into two parts with the top part closely resembling the Opera House in Sydney, Australia. And, earlier this year, the local government spent 1 million yuan ($146,478) to build a replica of the China Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, which also drew much criticism from the public. One online comment said that 50 million yuan ($7.4 million) is such a big sum for a poverty-stricken county. I wonder where did they get so much money since that was a Poverty-stricken county? |

for this kind of question, i don't know. it is govenment offical issues. i don't know why govement could do huge programa with out asking its people, and after that, the funding problem did not put into public. i think some officials have to walk around by himself, and see what is going on on the layer of the society. |
