In considering the manuscript which you recently submitted to Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, logged and acknowledged as manuscript number W7794, I have consulted with two Associate Editors, Dr. William Casey and Dr. Jacques Schott. The specific comments by both AEs are incorporated into an AE Report which is presented at the bottom of this message.

I regret to inform you that in light of the advice and recommendations received from these two Associate Editors I must conclude that we cannot accept this manuscript for publication in Geochimica, nor consider it any further. While the topic of this paper is within the scope of GCA, both AEs advise that it does not present a significant advance in the state of our understanding in this discipline.

I am sorry that I could not give you better news. This action of course implies no prejudice regarding any future submissions you may make to this journal. Thank you for considering Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta.
