The post gives a very good topic. I know the titles of a few of popular American serials of TV plays. But I have watched only one of these TV plays mentioned. Actually I only watched a few of episodes of Friends. A day in August of this year, I read a post from a website where some experiences were discussed about how to grasp English in a period as short as possible. I then tried to find the download links of this play free of charge, and stored a few in my computer to enjoy them frequently and conveniently. I disliked the play of Friends when I made the first attempt to understand the plot of the play. Poor listening abilities probably is the main cause that I did not like this play at the begining of watching it. So I forced me to watch the same small fraction of an episode for many days. In summer vacation, the temperature in my dorm is as hot as outside. My roommate and other classmates living in the neighbor dorms left school for their homes. I reapted the boring training for my English, watching and watching again the same small fraction of the first episode. After 20 days I was astonished to realize that I could understand most of their dialogues in the part which I extracted from the play for drilling my listening ability. After that, I do not feel as difficult as before. Now I can enjoy myself watching this play whithout difficulty in understanding. Sometimes I meet a few words or phrases I do not know. It is no longer a big problem. I can write down them and then look them up from dictionaries. I never look at the subtitle when I watch the play. I fold a long and narrow sheet of paper and then glue it at the lower of the screen so that the subtitle can not be seen and the vivid pictures shown in the screen can not be spoiled. This way I invented is effective to make myself concentrated on their talking instead of the lines of their talking. Unfortunately, I do not have time in this semester as more as in summer vacation. There is another thing I like to tell you taht I have made up mind to go through all the TV plays listed above. Watching TV plays is a perfect method to improve English hearing ability, but it takes a great deal of time to go through these series. I do not know how to post a picture in the replying post. I only know how to attach a picture in the initial post. So I do not attach any pictures in my replying post this time. |

I like those old flims. when I was young I like watching an american comedy of teleplay called "growing pains", it was screened in the year between 1985 and 1992. The optimistic attitude of the Hepher family left us an unforgettable impression. And The Sound of Music is also one of my favorite movies. I really enjoyed seeing it. I could feel how love for one another can pull people through major difficulties. In the flim of Forrest Gump, there are so many intriguing sentences which are remaining fresh in my memory, and I like this one best,"Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get." I was deeply moved by his perseverance and persistent. Do you know this sentence "If you have a dream you must persist to it." It comes from the film of The Pursuit of Happiness.It is said that this film filmizes a real story. I think he is a real man, a good papa, who is pursuing the happiness all along! In my opinion, what attracts us most in American drama is its good script with compact development of story, its charming main characters with beautiful girls and handsome guys, in addition, the fluent sound English makes us feel so great. Idol play "the vampire diaries" is just the thing, which attracts me so much. Every character is impressive;the heroine is Elena, she is a normal girl, who loves and is loved by the hero- Stefan, but I have no feeling of her for she has no outstanding figure, I prefer to the supporting role Catherine, she is the boss of the vampire world, looks quiet elegant and magnificent, hate by all the people especially by the twinbrother- Stefano and Damon, to be mentioned, the twin brothers are also vampire who are both transferred by Catherine. the drama tells us the past and present stories of the characters, inserted in their relationship development, which attrats me so much that I have to eagerly wait a week for each episode. Of course, from the American drama, I can learn so many words and sentences to improve English listening. First of all, I love this topic,cause I love American TV dramas very much!Thanks to Tianyanren for posting this topic! Grey'Anatomy and The Big Bang Theory r my favorite.I started watching Grey when I was on the second year of college.My major is Bio.The drama is kind of related.I like the busy life the drama shows.I like the meaningful things they do.I like watching them growing up step by step,from interns to risendents.The most fascinating thing is the philosophy in it.At the end of every episode,it shows us some philosophic sentences. The big bang theory is kind of like classic drama Friends.Every episode is very short,about 25 mins.It is funny.And it is good for a enghish learner,cause they are always in a house and chatting  (although there are many physical words)The words they used are more fashion than Friends'.And the speeds are quicker.So it is good for training ears.During my college years,I have watched a dama named One Tree Hill.It is not hot,not as popular as Prison Break,Lost or mang other dramas.But it is really impressed.It is from CW,like the O.C. and Gossip Girls.It tells a story about 2 brothers and their lives. They both are basketball players.The drama is about love and dream.Every body in the drama is pursuing his/her dreams.It is inspiring.In my opinion,I grew up with every one in the drama.From sophomore to senior,the drama is a part of my life.For me,Lucas and Peyton are the perfect couple.So when the two quited performing,I quited either.
