There is no such verification effort in the manuscript. 3) For larger microstructures where geometric optics is valid, JAP is not a suitable journal for geometric optical design issues. The following comments might help redirect the research and future submissions. It would be a nice project to calibrate the transmission/reflection model of a ray tracing (RT) program against more advanced approach such as FDTD for a flat LED surface with nanostructure. Then, the RT would be a suitable tool to study extraction characteristics such as 3D angular distribution of nanostructured LED.
