Much effort of previous research has been devoted to improve the forecasting accuracy without consideration for the compactness of the network.
要表达的意思是：以前一些工作都致力于提高预测的精度，没有考虑网络的紧凑性。

Much effort of previous research is focused on improving the forecasting accuracy which is one of main tasks in time series analysis, however, do not consider the compactness of the network.
