It is hot today, but I feel cool in my inner heart. Today I am free because my supplementary class has one-day off. So I have a date with my high school students-my best friends. Though we are seperated with each other for a long time, the friendship among us is deep and lasting. I feel gratified.

have a date ??

As I know, "date" normally means an engagement to go out with a member of the opposite sex, a potential boy friend, for example. "Date" in Chinese "yuehui" has the same tendency. Others words may be available: engagement, appointment, assignation. But I think they are too formally and socially. Why not just as easily as to use "hang out" or "ask out".
