1.北车是经国务院同意，国务院国资委批准，由中国北方机车车辆工业集团公司联合大同前进投资有限公司、中国诚通控股集团有限责任公司和中国华融资产管理公司，于2008年6月26日共同发起设立的股份有限公司。公司注册资本58亿元。总部设在北京。2009年12月29日，中国北车在上海证券交易所正式挂牌上市。
China CNR Corporation Limited referrs to as North Vehicle（“CNR”）, is approved by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and co-founded by China Northern Locomotive Rolling Stock Industry Corporation , Datong forward Investment Co., Ltd.,China Cheng Tong Holding Group Co., Ltd.and China Huarong Asset Management Corporation. The company was Co-sponsored and established on June 26, 2008 with registered capital of 5.8 billion. with Headquarter Located in Beijing. CNR successfully listed at Shanghai Stock Exchange at December 29, 2009.

2.北车的使命是：接轨世界，牵引未来。愿景是：成为轨道交通装备行业世界级企业。未来主要战略构想是：开拓三大市场、实施四大战略、打造四大产业，实现“三步走”发展目标。“三步走”发展目标“第一步，三年再造一个北车，到2011年实现销售收入700亿元；第二步，四年时间再翻一番，到2015年实现销售收入1400亿元；第三步，2020年前进入世界500强。
The Missions of CNR are: integration in the world, pulling the future. Vision is: to become a world-class rail transportation equipment industry enterprises. The Main strategic visions in the future are: developing three markets, to carry the four major strategies into execution, to build four major industries, to achieve "Three-Step" development goals. "Three-step" development goals "the first step, to reconstruct another CNR in three years, and to revenue 70 billion yuan in sales in 2011;the second step, from 2011 to 2015，to achieve sales revenues of 140 billion yuan in four years which is double to 2011; The third step is to enter the world top 500 by 2020.
