主编让我把文章缩短为2页,到底什么意思？ 已有16人参与

各位虫友，刚投稿5天，谁成想主编回信： >We are pleased to inform you that your paper falls within the scope of the Journal and has been deemed to be of potential interest for the readers of Journal of ***. However, due to the considerably restrictive nature of the type of wastes described and the limited geographic area concerned, we would like to request that the paper be shortened to 7 double-spaced manuscript pages (corresponding to 2 printed journal pages), including tables and figures, without abstract and containing only 2-3 references. The article in the above format could then be deemed suitable for potential publication in the newly established column "A Glance at the World". Please note that articles accepted for this column are not forwarded into the peer review process and will not appear on the ISI web of science. 如果这样发表，我这篇文章算论文还是短讯呢？属于SCI期刊到底有什么标志吗？我毕业还要SCI文章呢，把文章先发到这个栏目有什么意义呢，会不会影响我将文章修改后投稿到其它期刊呢?
