| Mixed rare earth lanthanum and scandium doped ZnO-Bi2O3 based varistor ceramics are prepared by a solid reaction route, and the electrical properties and microstructure of the varisotr ceramics are studied in this paper. The results showed the mixed rare earth doped ZnO-Bi2O3 based varistor ceramics, the electrical properties of varistor ceramics is also consistent with the single rare earth doped, and the mixed rare earth doped can improves the electrical properties of varistor ceramics remarkably than a single rare earth doped. When the content of Sc2O3 is same, with the increase of the amount of La2O3, the voltage gradient of the varistor ceramics is increased. In the same time, when the content of La2O3 is same, with the increase of the amount of Sc2O3, the nonlinear coefficient of the varistor ceramics is increased, too. The results also showed with addition of 0.12 mol% Sc2O3 and 0.12 mol% La2O3, ZnO-Bi2O3 based varistor ceramics doped with mixed rare earth exhibit comparatively ideal comprehensive electrical properties. Such as the threshold voltage is 325V/mm, the nonlinear coefficient is 34.8 and the leakage current is 0.19μA. |

Mixed rare earth lanthanum and scandium doped ZnO-Bi2O3 based (MRED)varistor ceramics are prepared by a solid reaction route, and its the electrical properties and microstructure are studied in this paper. The results showed that the MRED varistor ceramics and its electrical properties are consistent with the single rare earth doped varistor ceramics. and MRED can improves the electrical properties of varistor ceramics remarkably than a single rare earth doped. the voltage gradient of the varistor ceramics is increased upon the addition of La2O3 and with a fixed content of Sc2O3. the nonlinear coefficient of the varistor ceramics is also increased through increasing Sc2O3 but with a same content of La2O3. MERD varistor ceramics exhibit comparatively ideal comprehensive electrical properties with addition of 0.12 mol% Sc2O3 and 0.12 mol% La2O3. its threshold voltage is 325V/mm, the nonlinear coefficient is 34.8 and the leakage current is 0.19μA.
