光致发光(PL)光谱是一种检测半导体固相材料光学性质的方法,PL发射光谱是由自由载流子的再复合而产生的,因此它揭示了电荷载流子的分离效果,即PL信号越强,电子-空穴对再复合得越多。图2-8显示了激发波长为 270 nm条件下Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3与BaTiO3样品的PL光谱。从图中可以看出,在波长400~450 nm之间样品均表现出强而又宽的发光信号,且Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3与BaTiO3样品的PL光谱线形相似,说明Sr掺杂没有引起新的发光信号。但是,Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 样品比纯BaTiO3样品的PL信号强度要强得多,表明Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3样品中光生电子与空穴更容易复合。
图2-9为Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3和BaTiO3光催化降解亚甲基蓝的试验结果。根据光催化原理,只有当光子能量大于或等于半导体带隙能量(hv≥Eg)时,半导体才吸收光而被激发,并在内部产生具有强氧化还原性的电子-空穴对,并对目标物氧化降解。

The Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy is a method to measure the optical properties of semiconductors. Generated by recombination of free charge carriers, PL spectra reveal the separation effect of charge carriers. This is to say, the more intense the PL signal, the more charge carriers recombined. Figure 2-8 shows the PL spectra of Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 and BaTiO3 under the excitation wavelength of 270nm. As can be seen, the samples display intense and broad luminescence signals in the range of 400~450 nm. Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 and BaTiO3 have similar shape with their PL spectra, indicating that the doping of Sr did not produce new signals. However, Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 has much more intense signals than pure BaTiO3, meaning the electrons and holes are easier to recombine in Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3. Figure 2-9 shows the results of photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue by Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 and BaTiO3. According to the principles of photocatalysis, only when the photon energy is large than or equal to the bandgap of semiconductors (hv≥Eg), the semiconductors could be excited by absorbing the photons, generating electron-hole pairs with strong redox abilities and degrading the targets by oxidation.
