Sadness prevailed in my mind after my calling home back. Because my mother said that the sprouts were small and not good due to the drought, which means a bad harvest this year. What is more, even the water for drinking is not enough owing to the lowering of the water table. I really cannot accept it, because in my memory there was always favorable weather in my village. I still remember clearly the river which run though our village. The river was the paradise of my childhood, especially in summer, all the children were playing , fishing and swimming there all day. But now, leaving only sands and sadness. Yes, our village developed a lot in the past years. The thatched cottages were replaced by the brick houses and the dirt roads were changed into asphalt ones. Also our Country has developed very fast in recent years and the economic growth has increased sustainably with high GDP. So, on the face of it, China is in a good condition and developing towards better direction. But, whether it is the truth? Of course not. Why? The natural disasters, happening with an increasing frequency, answer all about it. In recent years, Chinese people have suffered various natural calamities, the devastative floods in 1998, snowstorm in the south, ruinous earthquake in Wenchuan and Yushu, and the drought and torrential rains… Do you really think these happed naturally? If so, please wake up. This is the high price we pay for our “development”. The carbon dioxide was emitted arbitrarily randomly and the water was polluted and the trees were cut down and so on. China is developing at the cost of the natural destruction. Please comparing the environment now with the one in your childhood, you may find a lot difference. You may find the answer. So please do not ask why so many natural disasters are happening in China, the reason is that the nature is revenging on China! (Thank you very much for iangie's suggestion, I really appreciate it ) [ Last edited by xujie_tumu on 2010-5-22 at 15:15 ] |
