【Diary】Mother's Ideal of living 已有11人参与

Whenever I phoned my mother, we would talk for a long time. She will customarily ask "what is the time now in your area?”, even though she knows the time difference. I can strongly feel that she cares me every day and also she becomes older and older. So I always phone back once I have time, even when I do not know what to talk about before the ringing. Yesterday, we were talking this and that as usual. I did not remember which topic leads to the ideal of living. "One's ideal of living is just to have enough food to eat, to have enough clothes to wear and all the families are safe and happy." Mother said. I was a little surprised and laughing in my heart, why mother's ideal was so simple, but I understood immediately and felt a little shamed about my laughing. My mother sprang from peasant stock and did not receive much education; she just finished her primary school. But she is the excellent and typical famer. Diligence, goodness and guilelessness cannot properly to describe her so much. She and farther used their hands to bring my elder brother and me up, they helped my brother to buy the house and to get married and also their foresight to try their best to support me to study. Now she should be content, because my brother has his own career and I have successfully been abroad to study for my PhD. Especially for me, a peasant's son would went abroad was really a big bomb in my hometown, where is still not so developed. But my mother was so calm and busy preparing everything for me. Actually, what she was preparing was not so necessary, for this was really far from her thinking. That can be understandable, because she has not even gone to the big cities in China, how can you ask her to know about the conditions in the foreign Country. But I took the things as possible as I could. She did not ask me to work hard and to gain honors like that when I left, but only told me to take care of myself and not to save money... So for her, her ideal of living is simple, she just wants her children to be safe and happy, she just want to have enough food and clothes to keep the family well. That is the foundation of everything. Indeed, just her “simple” ideal gives me the chance to have my “big” dreams. Always, the simplest thing contains the deepest meaning. Thank you, my dear mother.
