The fats were incorporated into margarines, cookies, and muffins and fed to 15 hypercholesterolemic men and women (average age = 51 yr) for 5 wk each in random order. A low-fat diet (21% energy as fat) was fed for 2 wk as a baseline “run-in” treatment. The test diets contained 41–42% energy as fat.
