The finite element method has been employed to simulate the effect of the stick-like second-phase particles with muliple geometric orientation on the matrix grain growth. The simulation results show that, in the grain growth process, most of the stick-like particles locate at the grain boundaries with the same direction to the grain boundary, thus displaying strong pinning effect to the grain growth of which can be expressed by Zener relations. Under the condition of the same area fraction and particle size, no obvious difference between stick particles and spherical particles has been observed in pinning the grain growth when the second-phase particles occupy a samll area fraction. However, comared to spherical particles, the stick-like particles show superior pinning effect when the area fraction of second-phase particles is large. |
