Symposium held at the Fall Meeting of the Electrochemical Society. Conference location: Washington, DC, USA Conference code: 4489 Sponsor: Electrochemical Soc, Corrosion Div, Pennington, NJ, USA; European Federation of Corrosion Publisher: Electrochemical Soc, Pennington, NJ, USA Abstract: Magnesium and a magnesium alloy (AZ91C) have been ion implanted to modify the corrosion properties of the metals. To assess the influence of the implantation, corrosion testing was done by anodic polarization in an aqueous chloride solution (a pH 9. 3 buffered solution of borated boric acid containing 1000 ppm of NaCl). Significant improvement in the polarization curves of both metals were found when boron was implanted to a typical dose of 5 multiplied by 10**1**6B** plus /cm**2 at 100 keV. In the pure magnesium samples, the open circuit potential was shifted plus 200 mV. Also, there was more than an order of magnitude improvement in the current density at passivation. In the AZ alloy samples which already have improved corrosion resistance, further large shifts due to the boron implantations were also seen. 第二篇: Accession number: 1985050062915 Title: EFFECTS OF IRON IMPLANTATION ON THE AQUEOUS CORROSION OF MAGNESIUM. Authors: Akavipat, S.1 ; Hale, E.B.1 ; Habermann, C.E.1 ; Hagans, P.L.1 Author affiliation: 1 Univ of Missouri-Rolla, Materials, Research Cent, Rolla, MO, USA, Univ of Missouri-Rolla, Materials Research Cent, Rolla, MO, USA Corresponding author: Akavipat, S. Anodic polarization measurements in a dilute chloride-containing alkaline solution were used to evaluate corrosion resistance. A range of ion energies (50-180 kev) and doses (10**1**6-2 multiplied by 10**1**7 Fe** plus ions cm** minus **2) have been evaluated. Both the iron-implanted pure magnesium and the alloy AZ91C gave improved polarization measurements. A systematic positive shift of the open-circuit potential with increasing iron dose was found. The ion energy did not have a large effect on the corrosion behavior. Annealing the samples did not further improve the corrosion resistance. The results from characterizing the corroded samples using Auger spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy are also presented. 第三篇也是没有全文,只有这些: Accession number: 1997103493359 Title: Improving corrosion resistance of AZ91D magnesium alloy by nitrogen ion implantation Authors: Nakatsugawa, I.1 ; Martin, R.1 ; Knystautas, E.J.1 Author affiliation: 1 Inst of Magnesium Technology, Rue Franquet, Canada Corresponding author: Nakatsugawa, I. Source title: Corrosion Abbreviated source title: Corrosion (Houston) Volume: 52 Issue: 12 Issue date: Dec 1996 Publication year: 1996 Pages: 921-926 Language: English ISSN: 00109312 CODEN: CORRAK Document type: Journal article (JA) Publisher: Natl Assoc of Corrosion Engineers, Houston, TX, United States Abstract: The corrosion behavior of nitrogen ion (N2+)-implanted AZ91D magnesium alloy (UNS M11916) in 5 wt% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution was investigated using weight-loss measurement and electrochemical techniques. Ion implantation improved corrosion resistance at doses >1 ×1016 ions/cm2 (6.5×1016 ions/in.2). At doses of 5×1016 ions/cm2 (3.27×1017 ions/in.2), the mean corrosion rate and maximum pitting depth reached minimums. Impedance spectra drew a capacitive semicircle at 2×1016 or 5×1016 ions/cm2 (1.3×1017 ions/in.2 or 3.2×1017 ions/in.2). Additional inductive loops were observed in the lower frequency of untreated or implanted specimens outside this range. The presence of the inductive loop was discussed in terms of corrosion morphology, particularly in terms of the occurrence of pitting corrosion. Monitoring polarization resistance (Rp) was shown to be useful in evaluating effects of ion implantation.
