Metal-organic hybrid materials of paramagnetic metal ions exhibiting extended structures are of intense current interest in the field of molecular magnetism and materials chemistry due to their fascinating structural diversities and potential application as func- tional materials.1 -3 Dinuclear manganese complexes were used as models of an Mn catalase,4 and tetranuclear complexes were known to exist at the reactive center for photosynthetic water oxidation.5 In the field of magnetic materials,polynuclear manganese complexes with large spin multiplicities and uniaxial magnetic anisotropies have attracted much attention for their unique solid-sate properties such as superparamagnetism and quantum spin tunnel- ing.6 From the viewpoint of constructing such compounds,ferro- magnetically coupled dinuclear manganese compounds are con- sidered to be the simplest models for understanding magnetic interactions between metal centers and paramagnetic building units of polymeric architectures.7 Numerous dimeric manganese(II) complexes have been synthesized,8 but those that are ferromag- netically coupled are relatively rare.9 Herein,we report the synthesis, structure,and magnetic properties of a ferromagnetically coupled dinuclear manganese coordination polymer with a tetradentate ligand. |
