I love foreign movies and soap operas, especially, the American Soap operas and HOllywood movies. For example, I like the soap operas such as FRIENDS and PRISION BREAK, and the movies such as TITANIC and PEARL HARBOUR. For my part, these foreign TVS not only contribute to our English improving, but also fulfill our motonous life. As a case in point, in my spare time, I would like to watch TV shows and see movies-most of them are made by American-via my laptop. Certainly, most of them are free, because I download them form the internet. As a poverished Chinese students, I think it is the best way to acquire some foreign culture.
Acturally, I don't belive some of the stories being showed in the TVs or movies. You know, most of Hollywood movies are awashed with sex, violence and politics. Maybe, just as one of my oral teacher said, these movies are comercial products, and they are produced to make money. In other words, the sexy, violent and political anecodes are very attractive. Therefore, some of us may warry about the cultural erosion and penetration. Admittedly, some pornographic or violent moives and TVs may pose a threat to  Chinese young people' growing up.
However, I don't think it is the fault of the foreign cultre. More pricisely, some of the negative phenonmenon can attribute to the Chinese contridtional education. To illustrate, we want to curb the proliferation of some young students  addiction to Internet, and then the authorities adopt the method that most of school prohibit the students surfing online in the net-bars. Nevertheless, the regulations and rules of forbiddance had no serious effect on the prevalence of addictions to Internet.
This just a case of the point. I want to express that, just as some renowned ancient Chinese said, the best way to tackle the floods is unblocking the rivers but not holding back the flood waters. Maybe, I have gone too far to be meaningful. But I think it should be serious and thougtprovoking problem which should be paid more attention by our goverment.
From the personal pespective, I enjoy watching American movies, since  not only they boraden my horizons, but they ease my minds and, sometimes, give me inspirition in my study.

American sit-coms are quite popular, especially with those who are interested in American culture. For them it's a window to know the people and life there, and everthing seems so different from those of China. In this sense they are like a bridge helping people of different countries to know each other more, though some may be partial or even midleading. Anyway if there are soap opera, and there happen to be some people who like it, there is no reason to make a big fuss of it. It's just people's choice and they of course have the right to pick their favorite ones to watch.

I have been watching desperate housewives, gossip girls and lie to me.
In my opinion, desperate housewives had a very fascinating beginning like season 1 and season 2, but now the play is a little boring and is getting downhill.
To me, gossip girl has a lot of idioms which give me plenty of the American culture, so that I can improve my English.
Lie to me is a fabulous TV that made an impression on me. It is very useful to obersve the micro-expressions of people arrounding you.

I¡®m a big fan of Friends. Although it has been long since the series sotpped airing, I find a lot of interesting thoughts about life in it. When a friend of mine first introduced Friends to me, I was this shy little boy who was experiencing an awful lot of lack of confindence and inabilty to get along with people. The way they deal with their job and love really opened a door for me. I have to say that Friend played a part to make me who I am.  That is why I enjoy Friends more than any other operal.
