Preparation of biodiesel by Barium hydroxide catalyzed transesterification castor oil Preparation of biodiesel from transesterification is studied with castor oil as raw material and barium hydroxide as a heterogeneous alkaline catalyst. What's more , the effect of the reaction methanol to oil molar ratio, catalyst amount and reaction time to the yield rate of biodiesel and the conversion rate of castor oil are investigated. The results show that the appropriate conditions of the castor oil in the transesterification reaction with barium hydroxide as catalyst are methanol to oil molar ratio of 6:1, catalyst amount of 10:1 and reaction time of 90 min. |
