MIMO radar is a new kind of radar that used multi-input and multi-output technology, it developed on the basis of traditional phase array radar. There are two models of the MIMO radar now: the transmit diversity MIMO radar model that proposed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Lincoln Laboratory, the statistical MIMO radar model that proposed by Bell Labs. The transmit diversity MIMO radar launches mutually orthogonal wave from the transmitter's array element(or sub-array) to all directions, echo signal is the sum of all signals' delay; at the receiver, it use matched filter to separate every emission in echo wave signal, then use DBF technology to form receiving beam and equivalent emission beam. Comparing to the traditional radar, the MIMO radar have improved the anti-interception performance and the detect low speed targets ability in high-clutter background, it also improved the detect weak target ability in high-clutter. The improvements that just mentioned in the MIMO radar system are mainly because of the special way that the beam formed and the usage of the mutually orthogonal wave, also because it bring us more flexible signal processing way. |
