Genome-wide linkage analysis Genome-wide linkage scans is a method that allows the identification of genetic variants associated with a disease, without relying on any knowledge of the function or position of such variants in the genome. Families are typed using polymorphic markers positioned across the whole genome,and the degree of linkage of each marker to a disease trait is calculated.
