Refers to: RETRACTED: Kinetic and isothermal studies of lead ion adsorption onto bentonite Applied Clay Science, Volume 40, Issues 1-4, June 2008, Pages 171-178, Shujing Zhu, Haobo Hou, Yongjie Xue PDF (1212 K) This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. Please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy). Reason: This article has been retracted at the request of the Editors as the authors have plagiarized part of a paper that had already appeared in Journal of Colloid and Interface Science 307 (2007) 309–316, doi: 10.1016/j.jcis.2006.10.054. More than 75% of the text of the original submission of the manuscript by Shujing Zhu et al. has been copied word-for-word from the paper of Hao Chen and Aiqin Wang without quotes and acknowledgements. Even part of the data in Table 3 and the total Fig. 3a, b, c, d were copied. One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work is original and has not appeared in a publication elsewhere. Re-use of any data should be appropriately cited. As such this article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and we apologize to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.
