ÌâÄ¿¡ÃTowards a sustainable residential environment: decision analysis for residential site selection in Jimei based on multi-source data and multi-criteria

ÕªÒª        Under the multiple interactions between increasing population, built-up area expansion, and industrialization, areas undergoing rapid urbanization show a feature of high dynamics. The mixture activities and fragmented land-use have resulted in chaos of development, which cause people to come to an agreement that land suitability evaluation is a basis for making land-use decision. In this paper, an evaluation model of multi-criteria residential site suitability was developed to analyse the suitable area for inhabitation under a GIS platform. Health of residents, convenience of travel and amenity of living are all considered in representation of a health, convenience and amenity sub-model system. The evaluation of the patches adjacent to built-up areas are considered more reliable and the construction in these regions is more cheaper due to the share of publish facilities. The evaluation result in Jimei District showed that areas adjacent to Xinglinwan Bay, near to built-up regions and far away from industrial estates, were the most suitable sites. Meanwhile, the analysis was suggested to be performed regularly in rapidly developing region to ensure the validity of evaluation and continuity of suitability.
