Dr. Zhang’s lab is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of cell cycle checkpoint and developing therapeutic strategies against human cancers. We are particularly interested in the S phase replication checkpoint. (Molecular Cell, 19, 607-618, 2005; Molecular Cell, 35, 442-453, 2009). The Department has a broad range of research areas from signaling transduction to protein structure. It provides an excellent environment to foster collaborations among laboratories working on different research areas. Self-motivated individuals who have a PhD degree completed within the past three years are encouraged to apply. Strong background in biochemistry and molecular and cellular biology is required. Cleveland is a beautiful city located near Lake Erie, and has four-season weather. The Department of Pharmaceutical Science is on the Busch campus, Piscataway NJ, which is approximately an hour from NYC & Philadelphia, and is adjacent to the Robertwood Johnson Medical School, the Center for Advanced Biotechnology & Medicine, the Waksman Institute of Microbiology, and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) in New Brunswick. There are more than 200 active research groups on our campus, and many of the world's major pharmaceutical companies are nearby. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biological science, and experience in standard molecular and cell biology techniques.
