【求助】ISYM tag的困惑

我计算LiAlH4,其原胞属单斜晶系，空间群为P21/c. 我采用的是2*2*2的超胞，VASP报错： VERY BAD NEWS! internal error in subroutine PRICEL (probably precision problem, try to change SYMPREC in INCAR ?): Sorry, number of cells and number of vectors did not agree. 8 我调整SYMPREC从10^-3到10^-7都是同样的错误，不能解决问题。我也检查了POSCAR，没有问题。但我用原胞能顺利计算。我在其它网站上搜到同样的问题，如下： Hi I am trying to do phonon calculations for LiAlH4. The initial unit cell converges perfectly fine with no errors. But when I increase the size of the cell to a 2 2 2 supercell i.e. having 8 unit cells in the supercell my calculation crashes (doesn't even start) and gives the following error. Can someine resolve this or shed some info on the cause of the problem. Thanks 回答是： please check for the possibility of printing mistakes in POSCAR. If there are none, increase SYMPREC to a value which matches the accuracy with which you read in the geomertry information in POSCAR 我取消对称性后（ISYM=0)，使用超胞能顺利计算了，但VASP给出了警告：IMPORTANT INFORMATION: All symmetrisations will be switched off! NOSYMM: (Re-)initialisation of all symmetry stuff for point group C_1. 请问设置ISYM=0是否合理？什么情况可以考虑取消对称性？ |

设置ISYM=0对结果肯定有影响，但是这种影响应该在可以接受的范围之内。 因为如果考虑了对称性，那么体系对等价原子只处理一次，那么体系的整体性质一定是满足给定的对称性的。如果没有对称计算，那么所有原子非等价，计算量增大，而且体系失去了对称性的限制，可能对对称性有要求的计算无法得到可靠的结果。比如说能带的计算，分子轨道简并计算中，有的时候不设置对称性可能看不到a1u,e2g,t1u这些东西了。 在分子计算中对称性设置还有一个问题，如果进行对称性限制，可能会引入一至两个虚频。而且按照J-T原理，对称性低有利于能量降低。 我个人认为，如果没有特别需求而计算条件足够时，可以无视对称性的设置。 |
