Reviewer #1: This study adds to the growing body of research on alleopathic effects of polyphenols from macrophytes on phytoplankton and especially undesirable cyanobacteria. The results are somewhat surprising in the quick action on cell numbers (24 h vs. 7 days in previous studies for cyanobacteria), and the lack of effect on a fairly sensitive chlorophyte, Selenastrum, to photosynthesis inhibitors. Before recommending Myriophyllum as a control for Microcystis (or cyanobacteria in general), additional larger scale and outdoor mesocosm level coexistence verification is needed. Reviewer #2: The manuscript by Zhu et al describes possible allelophatic effects between macrophytes (Myriophyllum) and cyanobacteria as well as chlorophytes. The introduction is fine and material & methods understandable for the readers. The corrections necessary were made in the text and english improved. 这种审稿意见，需要回答吗？其中第一个审稿人还提出了些语法问题，比较好改。 |
