ELSEVIER OCEANOGRAPHY SERIES爱思唯尔海洋学系列 Polynyas: Windows to the World Polynyas are relatively ice-free regions when compared to theareas around them, and have been suggested as being foci for energytransfer between the atmosphere and ocean, ice "factories", andcritical areas with respect to polar ecosystems and biogeochemicalcycles. This volume presents an integrated, multidisciplinary review ofpolynyas in both the Arctic and Antarctic. It emphasizes themeteorology, ice dynamics, oceanography, biological components, chemistry, and modeling of these systems, particularly with respect totheir roles in polar processes and distributions. The variousinteractions within polynyas, particularly between the physical forcingand biological responses, is emphasized, as are the potential changesin polynyas that might occur under a climate regime that is rapidlychanging. The authors of the reviews are leaders among their respectivecountries in polynya research, and all are internationally recognized. * Addresses the findings from actively researched polynyas andreports on the new understandings of polar systems that have evolvedfrom these studies * Includes topics from meteorology to physics to biology andchemistry, and seeks to integrate them into a synthetic assessment 下载地址: http://uploading.com/files/EZLBGFWF/PolynWin.rar.html Global Climate Change and Response of Carbon Cycle in the Equatorial Pacific and Indian Oceans and Adjacent Landmasses To understand the global warming mechanism, global mapping ofprimary production was carried out under the GCMAPS program. Theprogram was concerned with marine and terrestrial environmentalchanges, which affect carbon cycle on the regional and global scales. On the regional scale, warm phase of ENSO (El Niño / SouthernOscillation) has been shown to affect economic activities in manycountries. The keyword for understanding mechanism of global warming isprimary productivity. The earth observation satellites (EOS) like theADEOS of Japan, and the SeaWiFS, Sea Star and Terra of the U.S.A.provided much required data for modeling and verification of primaryproduction estimates on both land and ocean. The knowledge gained during the GCMAPS program has beendocumented in this book. Interpretation of the data suggests thatglobal warming, which causes temperature and sea level rise, andchanges in climate and ecosystems, is likely to have the largestinfluence on mankind. The first half of this book discuss changes inmarine environments. Physical and chemical oceanographic properties ofthe equatorial Pacific and Indian Oceans are presented. Changes inpartial pressure of carbon dioxide, flux and composition of settlingparticles and biological communities in the surface ocean have alsobeen discussed. In addition to this, over hundred years ofenvironmental records based upon coral skeletons are presented.Estimations of primary production and its utilization in validatingsatellite imagery data were conducted in the western North Pacific.Primary productivity estimates based upon the validated satelliteimagery are presented on the global scale. Climate change modeling ofprimary production in global oceans is also presented. The latter half of this book deals with changes interrestrial environments. Primary productivity estimates for differenttypes of ecosystems (e.g., forest, grassland) are presented togetherwith soil carbon dynamics. Also, biomass and productivity estimationand environmental monitoring based upon remote sensing techniques arepresented with a model analysis of the relationship between climateperturbations and carbon budget anomalies in global terrestrialecosystems. This book elucidates integrated aspects of the globalcarbon cycle involving marine and terrestrial environments. * Discusses a current understanding of the biogeochemical processes on land and ocean * Provides global mapping of primary production based on satellite imagery data and modeling * Presents the latest interpretations of relationships between carbon cycle and climatic change 下载地址: pass: tFGLOCLICHAROC1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/81553283/GLOCLICHAROC2.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/81551812/GLOCLICHAROC1.rar Building the European Capacity in Operational Oceanography, Proceedings of the Third International Conference on EuroGOOS Thisproceedings 3rd EuroGOOS Conference on Building the European Capacityin Operational Oceanography is volume 69 in the Elsevier OceanographySeries. Thetheme of this book is the inter-hemispheric and inter-gyre exchanges ofheat, salt and fresh water, while its goal is to improve the knowledgeof the tropical Atlantic dynamics and how it affects the global ocean.A clear understanding of the dynamics of processes that affect the flowof mass and heat between the southern and the northern hemispheres inthe upper few hundred meters in the tropical Atlantic and of thoseassociated to the ocean circulation or to surface signals, fromdecadal, inter-annual to mesoscale periods, becomes necessary to betterevaluate their contribution to the interhemispheric mass exchange. These processes are believed to be largely responsible in driving thesea surface temperature, which in turn, is a critical parameter toinvestigate ocean-atmospheric interactions. Output produced by regionalmodels is also used to complement the observations and to provideadditional information on their spatial and temporal variability. Thesubtropical cells, by bringing water masses subducted in the subtropicsto the equator, and zonal currents investigated here contribute to theinterhemispheric water exchange. Special attention is also given tothe warm and salty anticyclonic rings shed by the North Brazil Current, which are now known to have a much broader impact, not only oninterhemispheric water mass transfer, but also on the environment ofremote regions. Observations from different sources are blendedtogether, are used to validate model outputs and are also assimilatedinto models to obtain a more complete and accurate picture of theoceanic circulation and of its time evolution. 下载地址: http://www.filefactory.com/file/aa7ccb/n/0444512675_zip http://ifile.it/y8vgue6 CO2 in seawater: Equilibrium, kinetics, isotopes Book Description: Carbondioxide is the most important greenhouse gas after water vapor in theatmosphere of the earth. More than 98% of the carbon of theatmosphere-ocean system is stored in the oceans as dissolved inorganiccarbon. The key for understanding critical processes of the marinecarbon cycle is a sound knowledge of the seawater carbonate chemistry, including equilibrium and nonequilibrium properties as well as stableisotope fractionation. Presenting the first coherent text describingequilibrium and nonequilibrium properties and stable isotopefractionation among the elements of the carbonate system. This volumepresents an overview and a synthesis of these subjects which should beuseful for graduate students and researchers in various fields such asbiogeochemistry, chemical oceanography, paleoceanography, marinebiology, marine chemistry, marine geology, and others. The volumeincludes an introduction to the equilibrium properties of the carbonatesystem in which basic concepts such as equilibrium constants, alkalinity, pH scales, and buffering are discussed. It also deals withthe nonequilibrium properties of the seawater carbonate chemistry.Whereas principle of chemical kinetics are recapitulated, reactionrates and relaxation times of the carbonate system are considered indetails. The book also provides a general introduction to stableisotope fractionation and describes the partitioning of carbon, oxygen, and boron isotopes between the species of the carbonate system. Theappendix contains formulas for the equilibrium constants of thecarbonate system, mathematical expressions to calculate carbonatesystem parameters, answers to exercises and more. 下载地址: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M8LHEPCC http://www.mediafire.com/?9mmjzczdsjs http://www.fileflyer.com/view/rKncxAL Satellites, oceanograghy and society Product Description: Thebook shows how the new observations from satellites required advancesin theory and influenced societal decision-making. The EuroGOOSstrategy has two streams: the first is to improve the quality of marineinformation in European home waters, and the second is to collaboratewith similar organisations in other continents to create a new globalocean observing and modelling system that will provide the open oceanforecasts needed to achieve the best possible performance by localmarine information services everywhere. The EuroGOOS strategy envisagesour national agencies making a major contribution to that challengingtask of globalizing ocean forecasting. The conference also provided anopportunity to take stock of the state of marine science and technologyin Europe relevant to the EuroGOOS strategy, and the state ofinformation services and customer needs. 下载地址: http://www.filefactory.com/file/586c7c/n/0444828923_zip http://ifile.it/dt3quy0 http://rapidshare.com/files/154914840/0444828923.zip [ Last edited by zyz1981 on 2009-12-24 at 21:09 ] |
