Sandstone ratio and effect coefficient of rock. stratum thickness and roof litho logic, 3 gas geology parameters have been put forward to calculate the capped ability index (SI) of cap rock in coal seam gas, and the gas geology units were zoned according to the capped ability of capped stratum in the researching region N-O.2(I)coal seam. The research results indicated that the cap types of the researching region were kinds of from I to IV, cast north region belonged to I high capped regions, partial stretch in middle part belonged to IV lower capped regions, and the most regions belonged to II-III which had middle capped ability.
