15、The Truth of Light and Heat

Abstract In traditional physical cognition and daily experience, light and heat have long been regarded as identical. People generally hold the view that "light is heat and heat is light", and take the temperature rise caused by light irradiation as direct evidence for their essential identity. From four dimensions of physical origin, existence form, motion mechanism and energy conversion law, this paper systematically demonstrates and strictly distinguishes the fundamental attributes of light and heat. Research shows that light is the original free energy that can exist independently and propagate in vacuum, with inherent vibration characteristics and no necessary relation with temperature. Heat is not an independent energy or material entity, but a vibration phenomenon of microscopic particles inside matter, which must depend on matter to exist. The essence of temperature rise of objects caused by light irradiation is that free light energy is absorbed by material particles and converted into particle vibration kinetic energy, which intensifies the vibration and shows a thermal phenomenon, rather than light being directly equal to heat. Based on rigorous logic and basic physical facts, this paper clarifies the long-standing cognitive misunderstanding, and provides a simple, self-consistent and original theoretical framework for reunderstanding the real relationship among energy, matter, temperature and radiation. Introduction Light and heat are the most common and basic physical phenomena in nature, which run through the whole process of daily life, engineering applications and basic physics research. Sunlight brings warmth, fire emits light with high temperature, and radiation heating often appears simultaneously with light irradiation, leading to the long-term intuitive judgment of human beings that light and heat are the same entity with the same essence. This concept exists not only in daily cognition, but also affects the accurate understanding of basic physical problems such as the essence of energy, material motion, temperature mechanism and radiation transfer to a certain extent. However, from the perspective of physical origin and strict logic, light and heat are essentially different in existence mode, dependent conditions, motion properties and conversion laws. Confusing the two concepts will lead to deviations in the explanation of energy structure, state change, cosmic radiation and other issues. To clarify misunderstandings and return to the physical origin, this paper redefines the essence of light and heat with clear, simple and testable logic, expounds the boundaries, correlations and conversion mechanisms between them, constructs a unified and self-consistent basic cognitive system, and provides a new perspective for the improvement of basic physical theory.  |
