The Geological Molecular Science (GeMS) research group  in  the Department of Geology at
Kangwon  National  University  (KNU),  Chuncheon,  invites  applications  for  a  postdoctoral
researcher position in computational geochemistry, with a focus on mineral-fluid interfaces.

The successful candidate will conduct research on the structures, properties, and geochemical
processes of mineral-fluid interfaces, using supercomputer-based Density Functional Theory
(DFT) calculations, Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations, and/or Machine Learning (ML)-
assisted  atomistic  simulations,  to  elucidate  atomic-scale  processes  at  mineral  interfaces.
Potential  research  topics  include  interfacial  structure,  reactivity,  and  isotope-fractionation
processes.

Professional Development
The  postdoctoral  researcher  is  expected  to  publish  research  findings  in  peer-reviewed
international  journals,  present  the  findings  at  scientific  meetings,  and  collaborate  with
experimentally oriented scientists. The position also provides opportunities to mentor graduate
researchers and to gain experience in research-proposal preparation and grant development.

Required Qualifications
-  Ph.D. degree in Geoscience, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or related field
-  Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of molecular modeling
-  Strong practical experience with planewave DFT and/or MD simulations
Preferred Qualifications
-  Experience in isotope geochemistry or solid surface modeling
-  Experience in ML-assisted simulations
-  Experience in MD-based free-energy calculations

This position is fully funded by KNRF as part of a research grant led by Dr. Kwon. The monthly
salary  is competitive and  commensurate with  the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
