| The cellulose ionic liquids of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [BMIM]Cl and 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [AMIM]Cl were prepared by one-step method respectively, which were characterized by FTIR. They were then used to treat cotton cellulose in order to improve the enzymatic hydrolysis. The results showed that the reducing sugar concentration of regenerated cotton cellulose treated with [BMIM]Cl and [AMIM]Cl was improved, being only 18.14gL-1 for untreated one. In contrast, dissolving capacity of [AMIM]Cl was better than [BMIM]Cl at the same temperature condition with the reducing sugar concentration being 41.99gL-1 and 41.47gL-1 at their optimal temperature 180℃ and 170℃ respectively. At 180℃, maximum solubility of cotton cellulose in [BMIM]Cl and [AMIM]Cl was both 19%. SEM images revealed that the surfaces of regenerated cellulose treated by ionic liquids have become rough and dense regular structure of the original was spoiled. There was serious corrosion in many areas on the surface of regenerated cellulose. XRD measurements showed that the crystalline size of regeneration cotton cellulose was significantly reduced, which indicating that crystallinity of cellulose was decreased because of ionic liquids being conducive to further digestion. |
