I am currently an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Statistical Science at the University of Bristol(UK). My research lies at the intersection of Statistics and Machine Learning, with the aim of producing theoretically grounded work that is publishable in both leading machine learning conferences (e.g., ICML, NeurIPS) and top-tier statistics journals (e.g., Annals of Statistics, JRSS-B). Research Interests My group is broadly interested in Statistics, Machine Learning, and their interface, with a particular focus on: • Adaptive non-parametric inference • Transfer learning • Subgroup discovery • Compressive learning • Classification with label noise • Structured prediction • Multi-armed bandits Requirements • A solid mathematical ability • Strong enthusiasm and curiosity for research • Good coding skills are helpful but not strictly required Note on Language Our research environment is international, and English is used for academic communication. However, applicants are not expected to have perfect English at the time of application. We place much greater emphasis on your mathematical background, problem-solving ability, and research potential. Many students significantly improve their academic English during their studies. If you are able to read technical materials and are willing to communicate and learn, you are strongly encouraged to apply.
